Conceptual Logo

I began this exercise by envisioning a fictional media production company that specializes in the video documentation of extreme sporting events. It felt necessary to consider its use as an energetic program opening animation (likely partnered with an epic guitar solo), printed on large banners for cameras to catch during events, or superimposed in corners of video clips.

As a still logo, the mark should also easily lend itself to small close-up ready items like microphone housing and sports equipment decals.

To achieve this kind of versatility, I would attempt to design a static logo that evokes visual movement.

I drew inspiration from Spike TV’s retired GET MORE ACTION™ logo (2006-2015) as well as late 1990’s TNT® network logo (1996-1999) to develop my first few iterations.

I made a variety of designs which together would make up Epic Media’s dynamic brand identity.

Final Selection - Brand Identity Suite

I chose these two logos as the best examples of the visual message I intended to illustrate with this logo

I moved on to develop a more neon/retro style logo for a Nightly Party Update (NPU) show I’m calling EPIC TONIGHT.

I chose to call back to the “Digital Age” motif of 1980’s futurism.
